: A beautiful and simple coloring page of a picnic basket at a flower-lined stream, it would fit perfectly to recreate right spring vibes and cosy outdoors time.
This scene comprises a woven picnic basket that was placed on a soft blanket near a gentle stream where wildflowers are leaning over the stream and smooth stones interrupt the current and form small ripples in it. Dragonflies dance, grasses nod in the wind, and several nibbles showing through the basket are inviting to a relaxing break: some bread, a fruit or even a jar of jam. Shrubs and low branches border the bank in the background and the inviting water gives movement through the page giving it some depth and a relaxing flow. A range of textures (wicker, fabric, petals, water, stone), combined with small details of storytelling character of the page, give an opportunity to observe not only the easy spaces to relax with a nice color, but also the complex spots to admire those who love fine lines.

How to Colour:
Paint the background to give the scene a light, free aspect: begin with cool blue dissolving on the horizon, then paint the stream with the horizontal strokes blue, teal, and a little gray; and the thin white glazes to make reflections on the mirror and show the colors of nearby flowers. Two or three greens should do the banks--cool olive as shadows, spring green as the middleground, and a light yellow-green up at the tips in the sun; some thin blades and little veins on the leaves will bring them to life. With the flowers select a 34 set of colours (e.g., pink lavender, sunny yellow, white) and colour the petals darker at the base and lighter at the tip; put in centres little balls of warm ochre. Improvise a warm gray bottom on stones with mushy curvy shadows on the bottoms. The basket will work best with a base of golden ochre, then shade into dark browns on the weave itself, light brown in the spaces and a russet trim; pull back a couple of highlights using a white pencil or gel pen to create the effect of polished wicker. Select a blanket pattern--gingham or stripes, and the folds should be dark in the creases; of the same flower color that is. This one fabric ties the page together. Put some soft cast shadows on the bottom of the basket, edges of the blanket and the higher flowers to put weight to it all. Markers are very handy in a flat space (sky, blanket), colored pencils work best in building and texture (wicker, petals), and a white gel pen is used for water glints and final highlighting.
