Spring Coloring Pages: Relaxing coloring book of butterflies flying over the flower fields-an excellent stress-free picture to calm down, to creatively paint by children and adults.
This sleepy image features butterflies flying across a broad vista of flowers, where petals, tussuy leaves and long grasses are all blowing in a soft wind. The butterflies come in varying sizes and waver shapes--some are very delicate with lacey edges, others are bold and graphic, so you can work lots of color ideas.
The composition of the page is provided with a soft horizon, some background hills, and light airy sky with a lot of free space to create interesting shadows and small details such as points of pollen, drops of dew, and sunlit spots. First color--the background: a very light blue with the deepening toward the top and fading toward the horizon, a touch of warm yellow or peach low on the sky to show sunshine. Hills or trees on the distance should be lighter and cooler in order to make the field stand out. In the flowers take 2-4 key colors (say pink, lavender, golden yellow and white) and interchange them so as to vary them; paint each petal, moving darker at the base and lighter towards the tip, and put warm ochre or brown at the centers.
Apply several greens to the leaves pattern- olive to the shadows, spring green between, and a hint of mint to the highlights and thin out the veins to visually give life to the leaves. So on the butterflies, use the colors that best complement their character: monarch (orange, black, and white) swallowtail (buttery yellow with blue details) or morpho (turquoise and dark spearing). Make color wings the same on both sides, fading away outwards and darkening colour towards the veins; leave some little whitsome spots, or put them in with a gel pen.
